Three months after an undisclosed “medical complication” left him hospitalized, Jamie Foxx is not only back in action, but boating too. In a video obtained by TMZ over the weekend, the Oscar winner can be seen waving, tossing up a peace sign, and speaking to fans from a boat on the Chicago River. Foxx, who appears to be onboard with several other guests, tweeted, “Boat life,” on Sunday, before plugging his bourbon brand and writing, “Stay blessed!”
This was the first public sighting of Foxx since his hospitalization, which lasted for several weeks. In early May, he thanked fans for their well wishes, writing, “Appreciate all the love!!! Feeling blessed” on his Instagram page. Days later, Radar Online ran a post claiming that Foxx’s closest friends and family were “hoping for the best” but “preparing for the worst,” and alleging that he had not yet been discharged. Foxx’s daughter Corinne Foxx slammed the speculation by sharing one of her father’s recovery hobbies. “Update from the family: Sad to see how the media runs wild. My dad has been out of the hospital for weeks, recuperating. In fact, he was playing pickleball yesterday!” she wrote on her Instagram story. “Thanks for everyone’s prayers and support!”
It was Foxx’s eldest who initially shared news of Foxx’s emergency. “We wanted to share that, my father, Jamie Foxx, experienced a medical complication yesterday. Luckily, due to quick action and great care, he is already on his way to recovery,” read an April 12 Instagram post that has since been removed. “We know how beloved he is and appreciate your prayers. The family asks for privacy during this time.”
At the time of his medical complication, Foxx was in Atlanta shooting the movie Back in Action, a Netflix comedy starring Foxx and his Annie costar Cameron Diaz (in her first feature film role in almost 10 years). He was also preparing to shoot the sixth season of his Fox game show Beat Shazam (he’s been temporarily replaced by Nick Cannon). Foxx can next be seen in Netflix’s They Cloned Tyrone, opposite John Boyega and Teyonah Parris, out this Friday, June 14.
